Abbandonate le grandi firme, lasciate l’appartamento affitto bloccato sulla 73° strada e l’irriverenza del sesso e della città per approdare nei sobborghi e conoscere più da vicino l’adolescenza riveduta e corretta di Carrie Bradshaw.
The Carrie Diaries, prima un libro dall’autrice di Sex and The City poi una serie tv per teen-ager, fa un balzo indietro nel tempo per farci rivivere la magia degli anni 80 con gli occhi di Carrie. Non manca proprio niente: la scuola, il ragazzo dei sogni, i vestiti, l’intership segreto da Interview Magazine e ci sono perfino un paio di Manolo Blahnik. Strizzando un po’ l’occhio riusciremo quasi ad intravedere l’aria sognante di Sarah Jessica Parker dietro il viso grazioso di Anna Sophia Robb, tuttavia manca sempre qualcosa…
La colonna sonora da audio-cassetta e i piccoli fotogrammi rubati a qualche vecchia VHS dello scorso trentennio, trasportano lo spettatore indietro nel tempo. I vestiti però interrompono l’atmosfera uscendo direttamente dalla scorsa collezione di H&M, TopShop e Marc Jacobs. I colori fluo imperversano ma dei riferimenti stilistici un po’ goffi agli anni 80 neanche una traccia.
In soli tredici episodi lo show sale e scende dai piani alti di Manhattan a quelli bassi della noia. Sarà per questo che si preannuncia da mesi una probabile cancellazione. Se avesse ancora una chance potrebbe saltare qualche tappa per approdare al momento in cui – sempre negli anni 80 – Carrie, appena trasferitasi in città incontra Miranda, Samantha e Charlotte. Per gli appassionati di Sex&TheCity non basteranno il nome di Carrie Bradshaw, lo scrittoio affacciato alla finestra e la promessa di un guardaroba da sballo per tenerli incollati alla tv, tuttavia io consiglio di dare un’occhio indolore alla mini-serie ai più affezionati.
Perchè infondo chi non ha mai sognato di scrivere su Interview Magazine indossando abiti firmati in regalo negli anni 80?

The Carrie Diaries, first book by the author of Sex and The City then a TV series for teen-agers, takes a leap back in time for us to relive the magic of the 80s through the eyes of Carrie Bradshaw. Nothing is missing: the school, the boy of her dreams, the clothes, the secret internship at Interview Magazine and there are even a pair of Manolo Blahnik. Squeezing eyes a little almost allow you to catch a glimpse of the dreamy Sarah Jessica Parker‘s face behind the most graceful one of Anna Sophia Robb, but something is still missing… The soundtrack from audio cassette and small frames stolen from some old VHS from 80s, transporting the viewer back in time. The clothes, however, disrupt the atmosphere coming directly from the last collection of H&M, TopShop e Marc Jacobs. The flashing colours are everywhere but stylistic clumsy references to the 80’s not even a trace.
In thirteen episodes the show goes up and down from the upper Manhattan to lower floors of boredom. Probably this is why are talking about cancellation since months. If it still has a chance to be renew it may skips some years and jump to Carrie arrival in town when she meets Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte. For fans of Sex and The City wouldn’t be enough Carrie Bradshaw, the desk at the window, neither a promise of a rocking labeled wardrobe to keep watchers glued to the tv, but I recommend to the most loyal to take a glimpse to the mini-show. At the end who have never dreamed of writing for Interview Magazine wearing designer clothes as a gift in the 80s?
