Marrakech non è molto grande e tre giorni sono sufficienti per apprezzarne la sua bellezza, così decidiamo di prenotare una breve gita fuori porta.
ESSAOUIRA
Avremmo desiderato trascorrere una notte nel deserto ma non c’era abbastanza tempo e quindi scegliamo di visitare Essaouira, una cittadina di mare che si affaccia sull’Oceano Atlantico.
A bordo di un pullman, insieme ad altri turisti, viaggiamo per tre ore lungo le strade deserte che dividono le due città. I colori, il paesaggio brullo, i piccoli agglomerati fatiscenti e i pochi animali al pascolo rendono il tragitto interessante. Visitiamo una cooperativa che vende costosi prodotti di Olio d’Argan realizzati localmente da donne marocchine. Ci spiegano la lavorazione e il processo volto al minimo spreco, al fine di beneficiare al massimo delle molteplici funzioni del seme di Argan.
Continuiamo e arriviamo a Essaouira, il sole splende forte e si specchia con determinazione nelle antiche mura bianche della città. L’unico colore a far contrasto è un acceso blu su porte, infissi e finestre. Il vecchio mercato prende vita sotto gli archi ombreggiati.
Il cuore della città è un’intersezione incessante di viuzzole sulle quali venditori si affacciano con la loro mercanzia. Anche qui, come nei Suq, si può trovare di tutto: dall’argenteria, alle spezie fino a musica e cibo.
Pranziamo in una piccola corte. Ordiniamo Tagine di verdure e ci rilassiamo al riparo dal sole delle una. Torniamo al porto e passeggiamo lungo la spiaggia. Osserviamo i bambini giocare spensierati, le famiglie in relax e notiamo un signore con due Cammelli a riposo. Non resisto e gli andiamo incontro nella speranze di scattare qualche simpatica foto. Il signore ci invita a farci fotografare con l’animale e ad accarezzarlo. Il cammello ovviamente non apprezza ma io sono entusiasta come un bimbo.
Il tempo a nostra disposizione è terminato, ci godiamo ancora qualche minuto di tramonto ed è già l’ora di tornare a Marrakech.

ESSAOUIRA
Marrakech is not very big and three days are enough to appreciate its beauty, so we decide to book a short out-door trip.
We would have wished to spend one night in the desert but there was not enough time so we choose to visit Essaouira, a seaside town overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
On a bus, along with other tourists, we travel for three hours along the deserted streets that divide the two cities. The colors, the rugged landscape, the small agglomerations running down and the few grazing animals make the journey interesting. We visit a cooperative that sells expensive Argan Oil products locally made by Moroccan women. They explain the processing that allows the least waste, in order to benefit from the many functions of the Argan seed.
We continue and arrive in Essaouira, the sun shines strong and it is reflected with determination in the ancient white walls of the city. The only color to contrast it is a light blue on doors, windows, and windows. The old market arises under shady arcs. The heart of the city is an intense intersection of gutters on which sellers sell their merchandise.
Here too, as in Souks, you can find everything from silverware, spices to music and food. We dine in a small court. We order veggie Tagine and relax in the shelter avoiding the sun at noon.
We go back to the harbor and walk along the beach. We look at the children playing carefree, families in relaxation and we notice a man resting with two camels.
I did not resist and we meet him in the hopes of taking some nice photos. The gentleman invites us to take photographs with the animal and caress them. The camels obviously do not appreciate but I’m excited as a kid.
The time at our disposal is over, we enjoy the sunset a little longer and it is time to return to Marrakech.
