We understand that Abruzzo is raw, without those necessarily trendy atmospheres – which we like so much – but which are unifying cities all over the world. It will be difficult to find trendy restaurants or fancy bars, what we find are common places not recently updated or oldies, with a typically Italian charm.
Before going straight to the destination, we pay a visit to the very elegant city of Teramo. Small and gathered under the loggias that cross the main street that overlooks the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.
After an easy lunch, we arrive inCivitella del Tronto. The village, one of the most beautiful in Italy, is perched on travertine rocks and has withstood the earthquake, remaining solidly anchored to its history. As well as its fortress.
Before entering the village, we glimpse at the Santuario di Santa Maria dei Lumi.
From here we observe Civitella from afar, it feels like being in a fairy tale when at sunset the bell tower rings among the silent noises of the surrounding calm.

The small center opens into a large square with a panoramic view and the small streets intertwine in narrow alleys until they reach the ancient fortress built by the Bourbons of Naples. The windows and the semi-open doors show us the life of the village.
We also walk through the narrowest alley in Italy, La Ruetta (very small street), only 40cm wide. Then, before having dinner at the hotel, we order an aperitif at the little bar that welcomed us to Civitella.
The day after we land to Pineto beach to enjoy a day of sun and sea. We rent deckchairs and umbrellas, we relax by reading a book and taking a bath, dive into a very Italian atmosphere that warms our hearts.
