Comme Des Garçons | White Drama | Les Docks

L’avventura di Rei Kawakubo, la mente creativa dietro al progetto tra moda e arte Comme des Garçons,  inizia negli anni ’60. Divisa tra Tokyo e Parigi, Kawakubo, da vita alla collezione maschile  negli anni ’70 e stringe sempre più il sodalizio tra la capitale Giapponese e quella Francese creando due punti di riferimento fatti di corrispondenze e progetti unici. 

Nell’estate 2012  Comme des Garçons approda sulle riva della Senna, ospite negli spazi de “Les Docks” – Cité de la Mode et du Design con una mostra evocativa ed eterea dal titolo “White Drama“. Rei Kawakubo crea un percorso speciale all’interno di uno spazio industrial, racchiudendo gli splendidi abiti scultura in bolle di plastica. 

Presentata durante la Paris Fashion Week autunnale, Kawakubo spiega che l’intera collezione rappresenta il passaggio progressivo tra la nascita e la morte. Un percorso tra i momenti rappresentativi dell’esistenza dell’individuo fino alla trascendenza. Tra esplosioni floreali e diverse sfumature del bianco, è l’osservatore ha determinare quali tra gli abiti rappresentano l’una e l’altra. Lana, seta, raso e pizzo uniti insieme creano una perfetta conversazione tra moda e arte, tra dramma e romanticismo in un incontro tra sovrapposizioni eleganti ed eccessive.

English Version / The adventure of Rei Kawakubo, the creative mind behind the project between fashion and art Comme des Garçons, begins in the 60s. Torn between Tokyo and Paris, Kawakubo, founded the men’s collection in the 70s and tightens more and more the partnership between the Japanese and the French capitals by creating two benchmarks made ​​of matches and unique designs.

During summer 2012 Comme des Garçons lands on the banks of the Seine, a guest in the spaces of “Les Docks” – Cité de la Mode et du Design with an evocative and ethereal exhibition titled “White Drama“. Rei Kawakubo creates a special path within a industrial space and  splendid clothes sculpture enclosing in plastic bubbles. Presented during Paris Fashion Week in autumn, Kawakubo said that the entire collection is the gradual transition between birth and death. A path between the moments of the existence of the individual through out to transcendence. Between bursts of flowers and different shades of white, the observer has to determine which of the dresses are the one and the other. Wool, silk, satin and lace combined together create a perfect conversation between fashion and art, drama and romance in a meeting between elegant and excessive overlap.
