Nell’ottobre 2010 mi trovavo a New York con Priscy. In giro per la città e per musei, un video più degli altri aveva colpito la mia attenzione. Oggi mi è tornato a mente. Sulle pareti del MoMa nella categoria New Photographers 2010 appariva “Dispair“, il corto della fotografa Californiana Alex Prager. Bryce Dallas Howard veste i panni di una donna negli anni 60 in abiti evocativi, su eleganti tacchi rossi in tono con il rossetto e i suoi capelli ramati ad incorniciarle il viso. Ispirato da un immaginario Hitchcockiano, Alex Prager, tratteggia in un film multi-sensoriale l’elaborato percorso creativo che la vede dietro la macchina fotografica come artista, stylist, make up artist e fotografa. Una visione melodrammatica e tragica dell’America Los Angelina esteta ed in evoluzione e della natività della fotografia contemporanea. Un immaginifico capolavoro tra riferimenti cinematografici e fotografia iconografica.

English/In October 2010 I was in New York with Priscy. Hanging around in the city and into museums, a video through the others had caught my attention. Today i recalled it to my mind. On the walls of MoMa in the New Photographers 2010 exhibition appeared “Dispair“,a film by Californian photographer Alex Prager. Bryce Dallas Howard plays the role of a 60’s woman in evocative dresse with elegant red heels in tone with her lipstick and her red hair framing her face. Inspired by an Hitchcockian imaginary, Alex Prager, portrays in a movie the elaborate multi-sensory creative path that hides behind the camera as an artist, stylist, makeup artist and photographer. A melodramatic and tragic vision of America’s L.A esthete and evolving and the nativity of contemporary photography. An imaginative masterpiece of film’s references and iconic photographs.
