Post-Pop: East Meets West e 110 artisti provenienti da Cina, ex-Unione Sovietica, Taiwan, Uk e Usa si incontrano alla Saatchi Gallery di Londra per essere messi a confronto. Sotto forma di pop culture, la mostra esplora le diverse visioni del mondo che ci circonda con l’ausilio della forma d’arte che più lo ha caratterizzato nel corso del ventesimo secolo.
Da uno spazio all’altro si attraversano le tematiche più svariate: dal comune habitat alla Comunicazione, dai Mass Media alla Religione e così via. Con sagacia, umorismo e la familiarità dei soggetti e oggetti rappresentati la Pop Art permette – ancora oggi – agli artisti di rappresentare la realtà con un’espressione artistica di immediata comprensione e dal forte impatto visivo.
Così benché proveniente da diverse culture, gli artisti giocano con pubblicità, propaganda e celebrità in modi similari. Lo fanno riflettendo e interpretando temi complessi che assumono valori diversi e allo stesso tempo incredibilmente comuni. Controllo e conformità per l’Ex-Unione Sovietica. Feticismo e produzione di massa per Granbretagna e Stati Uniti. Benessere e povertà per la Cina.
I più semplici concetti espressi nelle opere raccolte nelle ampie stanze della Galleria Londinese, non sono solo volti a permetterci di osservare il punto di vista su tematiche comuni di chi ha una cultura diversa da quella Occidentale, bensì la forte volontà di permettere all’osservatore di comprendere pienamente la potente influenza che la cultura pop ha sull’arte contemporanea a tutt’oggi.

English / Post-Pop: East Meets West and 110 artists from China, Former Soviet Union, Taiwan, UK and US meet at the Saatchi Gallery in London to be compared. In the form of pop culture, the exhibition explores the different views of the world around us with the help of an art which has characterized it during the twentieth century.
From one space to another you’ll walk through the wide variety of subjects: from the common habitat to the Communication, from the Mass Media to religion and so on. With wit, humor and familiarity of the subjects and objects exhibited, Pop Art allows – even today – the artists to represent reality with an artistic expression of immediate understanding and strong visual impact.
So although coming from different cultures, the artists play with advertising, propaganda and celebrities in similar ways. They do this by reflecting and interpreting complex issues that take different values and at the same time incredibly common. Control and compliance for the Former Soviet Union. Fetish and mass production for Great Britain and the United States. Welfare and poverty for China.
The simplest concepts expressed in the works collected in the spacious rooms of this London Gallery, are not only designed to allow us to observe the point of view on issues common to those who have a different culture from the West, but the strong will to allow observers fully understand the powerful influence that pop culture has on contemporary art today.
