UK | LONDON 2014

Fare i bagagli per una “nuova” città, mi lascia sempre quel gusto dolce-amaro della partenza nello stomaco. I sogni ci portavano in USA ma l’aereo si ferma a Londra.

LONDON 2014

Da un po’ di tempo non potevo permettermi di regalare un bel viaggio a Priscy, così con l’occasione del suo 27simo compleanno prenotiamo cinque giorni di break.  Avevamo bisogno di staccare, riequilibrare la mente, perderci tra le strade caotiche di una grande città. Londra è il posto giusto per mettere in atto la nostra lista dei must: Arte, Shopping, Musical, Starbucks.

Abbiamo scoperto nuove zone della città che ignoravamo. Shoreditch, Borough Market e Shad Thames. Abbiamo fatto mini-shopping che entrasse nei nostri mini-bagagli e non sfinisse i nostri mini-budget. Ci siamo emozionati con Beverley Knights in TheBodyguard all’Adelphi Theatre, abbiamo scoperto di più sulla filosofia creativa di Paul Smith, l’ardore fashion di Isabella Blow e i suoi pupilli, ed abbiamo scoperto “nuovi” artisti alla Saatchi Gallery.

Neanche il cibo ci è mancato. Infatti abbiamo consumato un apporto calorico superiore alla necessità – e alla media –  tra Starbucks, Wagamama e un mucchio di altri locali. Qualche scatto riassuntivo della nostra breve – ma intensa – vacanza Londinese da Italiani imbacuccati per il freddo inverno.

Packing for a new trip always makes me feel that bitter-sweet taste of anxiety and departure in my stomach. The dreams would have brought us in the U.S. but the plane stops in London.

For a long time, I could not afford to gift Giovanni with a birthday trip, so with the occasion of his 27th birthday we booked five deserved days. We needed to plug-off, to rebalance the mind, getting lost in the chaotic streets of a big city. London is the place to implement our list of must-haves: Arts, Shopping, Musical, and Starbucks.

We discovered new areas of the city that we did not know. Shoreditch, Borough Market, and Shad Thames. We did mini-shopping that would fit in our mini- luggage and would not break our mini- budgets. We chilled with Beverley Knights in TheBodyguard at the Adelphi Theatre, we found out more about the creative philosophy of Paul Smith, the fashion galore of Isabella Blow and her pupils, and we discovered “new” artists at the Saatchi Gallery.

We didn’t miss food either. In fact, we consumed more calories than we needed at Starbucks, Wagamama, and a bunch of other places. Here some shots of our brief – but intense – London break.
